Last time we actually had time to eat more than a grab-and-go, it was the Anchor Bar in Buffalo. Stayed away from the wings due to the upcoming 8hrs of travel, but I do recall it being pretty good. Just can’t recall exactly what, as it was 2019
@shahnm usually it’s the person who just spent $18 for a ham and cheese sandwich with a half liter bottle of water. The kind of ham and cheese sandwich where the cheese is sliced so thin, you have to take their word for it that it’s actually cheese. Ditto the ham. The lettuce is thicker. The mayo is thicker.
Cafe Rio is a chain with very few locations. One is in SLC. O’Brycki’s has the best crab cakes I’ve ever had and is in BWI. Make sure you try either if you ever get a chance.
I don’t fly nearly enough to accrue miles or whatever else some of y’all are using to access the fancy lounges. I usually eat at the McDonald’s in the airport’s food court, or whatever is the cheapest equivalent. And I enjoy it! McDonald’s is very tasty. BONUS: some airports (think MIA) allow me to planespot as I eat.
I don’t travel enough to do the various clubs, but I have done it once for the airport at Montego Bay. Club Mobay was awesome and worth the extra cost at the time in 2016.
Haven’t had the opportunity to fly anywhere since then, but I’d definitely go that route again if it’s not too much of an additional cost. Mmm, Jamaican patties, snacks, drinks. That’s where I’d eat at an airport, even if it was mostly snack type foods from what I can remember.
The larger airports, Atlanta, Dallas, etc. have decent food, and I’m there changing planes. My local airports are terrible places to eat, and since I’m coming from or going home, I’ll skip the food there.
We’re Delta loyalists, so almost anywhere we’re going involves passing through ATL. We don’t fly often enough to have club privileges, so we usually try to hit a sit-down restaurant that isn’t a nationwide chain. A couple of the ones we’ve visited in the last few years are Chicken + Beer (Concourse D) and One Flew South (Concourse E).
(And the last time we flew, a month ago, we didn’t have a long enough layover for a sit-down meal, but we had the chance to try Shake Shack for the first time. Not bad.)
Portland International has a policy that all chain-type food vendors charge the same prices at their airport restaurants as at their other local locations.
For better or worse, the menus/quality of the food seems to be the same, also.
@macromeh A similar policy change at one of our airports caused the people at Aramark to throw absolute screaming fits. But the food is much better there now. And Aramark isn’t, nor are most of the chain names they had been hiding behind.
If flying for work then Legal Seafood if flying myself then I bring food in a thank you shopping bag that looks like you got it at the airport. I’ve gone so far as to bring take out containers. TSA and the gate never care
Blanco Tacos and Tequila on American Airlines north side concourse, and Bobby Flay burgers and shakes on Southwest concourse on south side terminal 4 in Phoenix. All restaurants are local establishments with a few national chains.
Usually the Delta SkyClub or a related lounge.
@shahnm Yep, the AA Admirals Club for me.
If face, I am here right now. Minestrone and Chicken Tortilla complimentary soup tonight.
I’m not. I’ve never flown and never intend to.

@ybmuG The original home of buffalo wings. Ate there in the mid '60s.
We try not to eat in airports, except for the one a year United Club admission. We sometimes bring our own sandwiches or snacks.
@andyw If I fly, which hasn’t been any time in the last pile of years I bring food that TSA won’t make me throw out.
Beer
The waiting area at the gate, being glared at mercilessly as I eat half of my footlong subway tuna that I stuck in my carry-on.
@werehatrack Is it the cross-eyed bear that glares at you mercilessly?

Either Admiral’s Club or Alaska Club.

@PooltoyWolf I never think of MIA

DIPLOMAT! RAT-A-TAT! FAT CAT! AWESOME!
I try to eat before I get to the airport just in case some unforseen mega time waster hits me and puts me in danger of missing my flight.
Have never eaten at an airport.
I’ve never flown on a craft larger than six seats.

I get my $16 sandwich and my $8 coffee and my $5 bottle of water and I simply be done with it.
Cinnabon
